Here's the picture I took of Juliet's Beacon Lights square.

Georgetown Circles

Here's my fifth square...I'm on a roll! The corners don't match up on it as well, but I haven't made the second and third squares yet so I will pay more attention to squaring them up.

missing block

I figured out the missing block. It's the beacon light design. I finished it, I just never posted it because I had to take it apart and start over the first time I made it. I can show it to you on Saturday =)

Also, I am so pleased with myself!!! I got the friendship circle to work!!! I had to cut the edges of each square and then it lays flat when I stitch them all together. It's a little large though, So I will have to cut it down a bit on the outside. The first one I did the center doesn't fit together perfectly, but I figure that'll be mine.

Honestly, I'm so happy I got it to work, I don't care that it's not perfect. Also, and this may seem weird, but every time I have a little mistake and the block doesn't work out perfectly, I can hear Claire saying, "That's ok, it makes it look handmade! It gives it character!"

I can not wait to see our completed quilts and cuddle up into them!

Block #4 - Arrowheads

Here's my newest block. It took a LOT of cutting but I really like it. I found out I have to use a scant 1/4" for sure on my machine because my squares were way too short, so I've been experimenting with that.

The new mission now is to force myself NOT to use purple in the next square...I can't help it...I love purple!

Block #3 - Practical Orchard

I wanted one that had big blocks of the bird fabric, since I am not using the Looking Glass one anymore. This was fun and easy!

Frustration!

http://www.quilterscache.com/U/UnionSquaresBlock.html

I made one of these last weekends and it was off by a whole inch. I think speed piecing just messes me up. I'm trying it again, but without the speed piecing, to see if it will measure better. Grrrr!

Spinning Four Patch

Here's my third patch. Juliet and Claire each have at least one block that does not feature the bird fabric so I made one too, to keep the quilt even.

My last square

The top picture is the last of my ten squares. I still have the friendship circle one to finish...

This one I kind of made up, so I'm not sure if there's a pattern out there for it or not... It looks like the basket weave one I was going to do, only different. If there isn't, what should I call this block?? =)

I also took a picture of the friendship circle so you could see what's happening in the middle =(

Stars and Stripes

I'm amazed I got this one finished. The third block gave me so much trouble I wanted to scream! In fact, I did scream... and curse...

This one was tough because I had no pattern. I actually drew it in Electric Quilt and then printed out templates!

I am working on the signature star now, but won't be able to complete it until we move home, because I will need to print out our signatures for the center piece. So, when we move home, I'm going to need just your first name signature to scan into the computer. Claire wrote her name on the quilt block list, so I'm gonna scan that in.

I have one more of my own blocks to finish and then that F*#%ing Friendship Circle. I think that block hates me. I finished one full block, but now it's puckered in the middle... I'm gonna take it apart and see if it can be resolved.

Grandmother's Cross

Here's my second block. The nice thing is this one is machine pieced, the last one wasn't, because my sewing machine was jammed. I went through it with the manual and it's working fine now. So....moving along slowly!

Four Winds and Castles in the Sky

Here are two more of my quilt blocks. I have four more blocks to go, including the signature block.

Looking Glass

Here's my first square. I also called it the "Seam Ripper Square" because I kept getting frustrated and starting over. There's still a few errors, but at this point they are minimal. Whew!

Helping Mom

So, I was trying to cut templates out of posterboard.........but first, Cordy kept tap dancing all over it and when I bent down she would lick my face. I kicked out the chihuahuas and kept Leo....only to find him doing this.

And finally, Flower - Claire's

Okay, this one, I have no picture of yet. I have all the pieces cut and I have the templates, but no pattern to show how to put them all together. This will have to be an afternoon with a big table and no dogs or husband around to figure it out! It's called "Flower" which doesn't match any of her original choices from the first drawings, unless it's the Dresden Plate. We'll just have to figure it out!

A Gaggle of Pinwheels - Claire's

This one I have two finished squares of - no extra fabric or templates.

Snowflake - Claire's

Here's where it gets tricky. I have one square of this, finished by Claire. I have no extra fabric for it nor do I have the templates. Any luck for this on your end, Juliet?

Grandmother's Fan - Claire's

Here is the other applique one. I have all three squares and will need no extra fabric.

Honeybee - Claire's

I'm putting up what I have of Claire's. Here's the Honeybee pattern - all fabric is accounted for, and it is nearly finished, except for the applique. I also have all three squares.

More Blocks

Here is Jacob's Ladder, I redid the Friendship Star, the Ohio Star and the Greek Cross. I'm also re-sewing Spinky's, because the seams weren't right.

I've picked and cut the fabrics for Beacon Light and Castles in the Air. So they're next.

The patterns I have

Here are the patterns I have of Claire's and the fabrics involved.

This is for the Five Spot pattern

This is for the friendship circle pattern

This is for the Row Houses pattern

And this is the Stars and Stripes pattern

Fabric

Here are the already cut fabric from the bag. I think some of it was intended for the stars and stripes pattern I have, because that wasn't in it's own bag. So, let me know if you need or want to use any of this fabric and I will save it for you or send it to you. (sorry for the crappy looking post)

Second block

Here is my second block. Again, it doesn't all match up perfectly but I think it looks pretty decent =)

First Block!

So, I've finally finished my first quilt block. I have one other block cut out too! I plan to cut two at a time, sewing one of each to make sure they look right and then do the other two of each.

I think I did pretty well for the first one. You can see where in some places the squares don't quite meet, but I'm still proud of it.

I know this one doesn't have any bird fabric, but don't worry, the next one does ;)

Finally beginning!

Well Ladies,

Since Barley is mostly house trained now, I can at least do things on my own without having to watch him like a hawk! And so, I have finally started drawing out my quilt blocks to color them and pick fabrics =)

I am also going to make a block for Emma's Hope Quilt... I will have to do that one first since it's due by April.

Just letting you know I have finally begun!!!
